Steinway & Sons is one of the most prestigious piano brands in the world, renowned for their exceptional quality and craftsmanship. There are several different models of Steinway pianos available, each with its own unique features and benefits. Here we will present a comparison of the different models and their characteristics.

The Model S

The Model S is the smallest Steinway grand piano, measuring just 5’1″ in length. Despite its compact size, it delivers a powerful and rich sound, making it an excellent choice for small spaces or apartments.

The Model M

The Model M is a slightly larger grand piano, measuring 5’7″ in length. It produces a full, warm sound and is a popular choice for both professional and amateur pianists. This is one of my personal favorite pianos.

The Model O

The Model O is a classic Steinway piano, measuring 5’10.75″ in length. It is known for its responsive touch and exceptional tonal clarity, making it a favorite among solo performers and chamber musicians. There is also a Model L which has slight design differences but is similar in length.

The Model A

The Model A is a larger grand piano, measuring 6’2″ in length. It delivers a powerful and resonant sound, making it an excellent choice for larger venues and concert halls. Some older Model A pianos have an 85 note keyboard instead of the usual 88 notes.

The Model B

The Model B is one of the most popular Steinway grand pianos, measuring 6’11” in length. It is known for its exceptional tonal range and versatility, making it a favorite among professional pianists and recording artists.

The Model D

The Model D is the flagship Steinway piano, measuring 9’0″ in length. It is the largest and most powerful of all the Steinway models and is often used in concert halls and recording studios.
