About Texas Piano Restoration

Texas Piano Restoration was founded by Registered Piano Technician (RPT) Lucas Heuer and piano rebuilder Jon Welch.

We are a piano restoration company inspired by the innovation and precision of the world’s best piano manufacturers and rebuilders. We help people restore and preserve family heirloom pianos, high quality concert performance pianos and pianos for schools, universities and churches.

Lucas Heuer, RPT

Lucas Heuer is a member of The Piano Technicians Guild and committed to the continual pursuit of excellence in technical service and ethical conduct. A technician earns an RPT certification after a series of rigorous examinations that test skills in piano tuning, regulation, and repair.

His experience includes working for Steinway & Sons in Dallas and tuning for the Moody Performance Hall, the Majestic Theater, SMU’s Meadows School of Music, Park Cities Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Dallas and many other schools, churches and homes throughout Texas.

He was formally trained by some of the industry’s best technicians during his time at The Chicago School for Piano Technology.

Renner Academy

Lucas is also a graduate of the Renner Academy. This course is taught by some of the industry’s top internationally recognized piano technicians: Rick Baldassin, a consultant to Renner USA, Fazioli Pianos, and the Utah Symphony, who conducts training seminars in the U.S. and Canada, Europe, Russia, South Korea, and Australia; Nicholas Gravagne, who combines an engineering background with 40 years experience in piano design, manufacturing, and rebuilding; Michael Spreeman, founder and creator of customized hand-crafted Ravenscroft pianos; Carl Teel, owner of The Piano Shop in Bountiful, Utah, and a well-known instructor at regional and national Piano Technicians Guild conventions; and Neema Pazargad, director of piano technology at The Colburn School in Los Angeles, California, who manages 170 instruments and three concert hall venues offering some 400 concerts annually.

Jon Welch

Jon Welch was raised with an appreciation for classical music by his mother who was an accomplished pianist. She competed in the junior Van Cliburn piano competition. Inspired by this experience, he has developed a passion and expertise in wood-working, fine craftsmanship and piano rebuilding. Jon is also a certified installer of the QRS PNOmation, and the Pianodisc Prodigy player piano system. Jon specializes in piano pin-block and soundboard duplication, piano rebuilding, restringing and player-piano system installation.

I can’t say enough about recommending Texas Piano Restoration to anyone who needs piano work done. Jon, Lucas and Stuart were wonderful in restoring my 1929 piano that has been in my life for 93 years and was damaged from moisture in my flooded house. It could not be played before they worked on it and now the sound is beautiful!

S. Black

Texas Piano Restoration sourced and restored a beautiful Yamaha grand piano for my church. It sounds clear and resonant, and plays beautifully – exactly what we need for our concert and recital series.

C. Harrison

From initial contact to final delivery of my restored and beautified piano, these guys were great to deal with. Super responsive and very friendly and knowledgeable. Our family piano turned out way better than I could have imagined.
